Ballast shot / grit
Ballast Shot and Grit are metallic products manufactured in a wide range of sizes and characterized by high bulk density. They are primarily used as weight-loading and stabilizing materials in various industrial applications.
Thanks to their high specific weight and cost efficiency, ballast shot and grit are currently one of the most economical alternatives to significantly more expensive and environmentally hazardous lead.

Ballast Shot
Ballast Shot is a high-density steel or cast iron alloy designed for weight loading, stabilization, and counterbalancing applications. With an average bulk density of approximately 4.5 kg/dm³, it provides an efficient and cost-effective solution wherever high mass in limited volume is required.
Ballast shot is also available in a stainless steel granulate version, offering additional corrosion resistance for demanding environments.
Product Characteristics
-
Average bulk density: approx. 4.5 kg/dm³
-
Achievable bulk density in mixtures: up to 5.0 kg/liter
-
Available as steel, cast iron, or stainless steel granules
-
Clean product – free from light dust fractions
-
High packing efficiency
Applications
Ballast Shot is widely used for:
-
Counterweights and balancing systems
-
Ballasting of industrial structures
-
Weight filling in machinery and equipment
-
Marine and offshore applications
-
Construction and precast concrete elements
-
Resin and composite systems requiring high-density fillers
-
Replacement of lead ballast (safer and more economical alternative)

Cut Ballast
Cut Ballast is a high-density metallic material produced by cutting steel wire or steel elements into precise cylindrical particles. It is designed for applications requiring maximum weight concentration, dimensional consistency, and stable packing performance.
With high bulk density and uniform geometry, Cut Ballast provides a reliable and efficient solution wherever controlled mass and structural stability are required.
Product Characteristics
-
Cylindrical, cut-to-length particles
-
High bulk density
-
Uniform size and weight distribution
-
Excellent packing stability
-
Low dust content
The precise cylindrical shape ensures predictable behavior during filling and embedding processes.
Applications
Cut Ballast is widely used for:
-
Industrial counterweights
-
Ballasting systems
-
Machinery stabilization
-
Marine and offshore equipment
-
Concrete and resin-based high-density fillings
