High-Carbon Broken Cast Steel Shot
High-carbon broken cast steel shot is produced by crushing high-quality round cast steel shot in accordance with ISO 11125-1. The angular grain shape ensures aggressive cutting action and efficient surface preparation in blasting applications.
Hardness Grades (according to ISO 11125-3)
We offer broken cast steel shot in three standard hardness levels:
-
GP: 450 – 550 HV ± 40 HV (45 – 52 ± 2 HRC)
-
GL: 600 – 700 HV ± 45 HV (54 – 59 ± 2 HRC)
-
GH: 800 – 950 HV ± 60 HV (64 – 68 ± 3 HRC)
Each grade is designed for specific blasting intensity and surface treatment requirements.
Chemical Composition
The chemical composition corresponds to high-carbon round cast steel shot in accordance with ISO 11125-1.
Grain Size Range
Broken shot grain sizes according to distribution:
G 10 – G 325
in compliance with SAE J444 (AUG 84, revised May 1993).
Applications
Sharp-edged broken cast steel shot is mainly used for pneumatic abrasive blasting in blasting chambers and cabinets to:
-
Clean surfaces from rust, scale, contamination, and degraded coatings
-
Roughen surfaces to improve adhesion of protective coatings
-
Unify surface appearance
-
Remove burrs and sprues
-
Remove carbon deposits from heat-treated GL castings
Key Advantages
-
High cutting efficiency
-
Controlled hardness grades
